Meet the Author and Book Signing: Grace D. Li, Portrait of a Thief

Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 1:00-3:00 pm, Grace Li will be in person at the Chinese American Museum DC to sign copies and chat about her highly anticipated debut novel, Portrait of a Thief.

When five Chinese American college students facing the daunting next steps of career and family expectations get together to pull off the art heist of a lifetime, they begin a life changing journey of more than their ability to skirt the law.

Ocean’s Eleven meets The Farewell in Portrait of a Thief, a lush, lyrical heist novel inspired by the true story of Chinese art vanishing from Western museums, about diaspora, the colonization of art, and the complexity of the Chinese American identity.

An audience Q&A session and book reading by Grace Li will begin at 1:30 pm.
